After a long professional corporate life in the City of London I felt the calling to a more soulful, holistic way of being and of offering help and healing in the world. My insight into the mind-body connection was borne out of my experience that whenever I felt emotionally stressed or pushed my body just a bit too hard, I became ill in some way or another. I am not sure what took me to aromatherapy but I have long recognised the positive and negative effects of an aroma on my mood and general wellbeing and have always loved plants and flowers and so it seemed an obvious direction for me. I have now completed my training as a Clinical Aromatherapist accredited by the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists. This journey has involved learning about how and from which botanical plant different essentials oils are extracted; the individual chemical properties and healing potential of each of over 60 essential oils; and the anatomy and physiology of the human body and its systems while also studying the therapeutic properties of each oil, the vehicles in which they are applied to the body and the optimal dilutions for greatest and safest therapeutic effect in each situation. Since I am not doing massage as part of my aromatherapy, I was excited to learn of Aromaflexology as a type of treatment which had been producing some amazing results as a fusion between aromatherapy and reflexology. I trained at the school founded by the daughter of the original creator of the modality and am delighted to be able to offer this hands-on treatment to my clients.
